OBJECTIVES

The object of Pro Pick'em is to accumulate as many points as possible by correctly making picks for each week played during the pro football regular season. Weekly points are tallied, and the player finishing with the highest season total is the winner for that league. All final standings are updated following the last game played each week. The Public League Scoreboard displays the Top 100 best ranked public players as well as their overall rank. The Private League Scoreboard displays points for all players in the corresponding league.

DEADLINES

For all Public and Private Leagues, the deadline to submit your final pick for each game is one (1) hour before the start of each game. For sportsbook picks that are composed of multiple selections if any of the selections are past the one (1) deadline that pick will not be allowed. Tiebreakers in the Pick'em game must be entered (1) hour before that start of the first game for their corresponding weeks.

TIEBREAKERS

Tiebreakers only apply to standard pick'em and pick'em with spread leagues. In any given week where two or more players finish with the same number of points, our tiebreaker system will be used to determine who wins that week. The tiebreaker system requires you to enter a score for the home and away team of the final game of each week. If you fail to provide scores for the tiebreakers the system will enter a 0 for the home and away scores. The tiebreakers are determined as follows:

  • The closest to the overall score by adding the home and away score together.
  • The closest to the home team score.
  • The closest to the away team score.

SPREADS AND THE OVER/UNDER

For the standard pick'em and survivor league types the spread and over/under for each game is not used to calculate correct picks. A correct pick is strictly determined based on which team wins the game. For the pick'em with spread and sportsbook league types the spread and over/under for each game is used to calculate correct picks. Some "official" spreads and over/under's may also change as game times approach. Pro Pick'em will use the spread and over/under that becomes available at 12pm EST the Wednesday of the same week of the given game. IMPORTANT NOTE: Pro Pick'em does not endorse gambling of any kind.

GAME TYPES

PICK'EM

The Pick'em game is a game that that lets you compete with friends, colleagues, or other football fans around the world by picking the winners of this year's regular season pro football games. In order to compete you must select the team you think will win each game on a weekly basis. Whoever has the most correct picks at the end of the season will win. If there happens to be a tie, tiebreakers are used to determine the winner. Tiebreakers are part of the pick process each week and should not be ignored if you really want to do your best.

SPORTSBOOK

The Sportsbook game lets you compete with friends, colleagues, or other football fans around the world. In sportsbook leagues you don't earn points by simply picking each game correctly. This game type involves a unique point system where each player starts the season with 1000 points. Each week you can make up to 10 picks to which you assign a point value. If you get the pick correct you get a certain amount of points in return, and if you get the pick incorrect you will lose the points assigned to the pick. You will be eliminated from the league if you run out of points. You are also required to assign at least 10% of your points each week. If you do not you will be penalized 10% of your weekly starting total. There are three (3) different types of picks that you can make: straight, parlay, and teaser. In order to understand these picks you must first learn some basic rules of all three (3) pick types. All of the pick types involve picking a team or over/under or a combination of both. When you pick a team the spread is included in determining if your pick is correct. For example, if a game was listed as New England -7 @ Buffalo 7 and you picked New England that would mean that New England would have to win by at least 8 points for your pick to be correct since 7 points will be subtracted from their score. It also means that if you chose Buffalo they could lose by 6 points and your pick would still be correct since 7 points would be added to their score. When you pick the over/under a correct pick is determined by adding the score of both teams involved in the game and comparing it against the over/under number. For example, if the over/under for the New England Buffalo game was 40 and you selected the over then the combined score of both teams would need to be greater than 40 for your pick to be correct. Also, if you picked the under in that scenarion the combined score would need to be less than 40 for your pick to be correct. Now that you understand the basics, here is how each pick works:

  • Straight: With a straight pick you can select one (1) team or one (1) over/under. If your pick is correct then you will earn the amount of points that you assigned to the pick. Conversly, if your pick is incorrect you will lose the amount of points you assigned to the pick. For example, if you had 1000 points to start and you made a correct straight pick that you assigned 100 points to, you will end up with 1100 points, and if your pick was incorrect you will end up with 900 points.
  • Parlay: With a parlay you must select between two (2) and twelve (12) teams and/or over/unders. For your pick to be correct all of your selections in the pick must be correct. If even one selection is incorrect then your entire pick is a loss and you lose the amount of points you assigned to the pick. With this type of pick the more selections you make the more points you can earn. The odds for the number of picks is as follows: 2 picks = 3 times, 3 picks = 6 times, 4 picks = 10 times, 5 picks = 25 times, 6 picks = 40 times, 7 picks = 75 times, 8 picks = 150 times, 9 picks = 300 times, 10 picks = 700 times, 11 picks = 1100 times, and 12 picks = 1800 times. For example, if you had 1000 points and you made a correct 100 point 4 selection parlay, than you would end up with 2000 points total because your pick would be worth 100 * 10 added to your current total of 1000 points. If your pick was incorrect you would end up with 900 points since you would only lose the 100 points assigned to the pick.
  • Teaser: With a teaser you must select between two (2) and twelve (12) teams and/or over/unders. This pick is essentially the same as the parlay except that you will get 6 spread points in your favor for each selection. So for each game pick you make 6 points is added to the spread and for each over/under pick you make the over/under is changed by 6 points in your favor. For example, if you selected New England -7 and over 40 for one of then games then your pick would actually be New England -1 and over 34. The odds for the number of picks is as follows: 2 picks = 1 times, 3 picks = 2 times, 4 picks = 3 times, 5 picks = 4 times, 6 picks = 6 times, 7 picks = 10 times, 8 picks = 15 times, 9 picks = 20 times, 10 picks = 25 times, 11 picks = 35 times, and 12 picks = 50 times. For example, if you had 1000 points and you made a correct 100 point 4 selection teaser than you would end up with 1300 points total because your pick would be worth 100 * 3 added to your current total of 1000 points. If your pick was incorrect you would end up with 900 points since you would only lose the 100 points assigned to the pick.

PICK'EM WITH SPREAD

The Pick'em with spread game lets you compete with friends, colleagues, or other football fans around the world by picking the winners of this year's regular season pro football games. In order to compete you must select the team you think will win each game based on the spread on a weekly basis. The spread is a positive or negative number that is applied to your pick's final score. A negative number means that the spread will be subtracted from the score and a positive number means the spread will be added to the score. Whoever has the most correct picks at the end of the season will win. If there happens to be a tie, tiebreakers are used to determine the winner. Tiebreakers are part of the pick process each week and should not be ignored if you really want to do your best.

SURVIVOR

The Survivor game lets you select just one team each week that you think will win that week. This is considered a "guaranteed winner". If the team you select wins, you will move on to the next week. If the team you select loses, you will be automatically eliminated from the game and no longer be allowed to compete. Picking a guaranteed winner each week may sound easy enough, but there is a catch... once you select a team, you will not be allowed to select that team again for the remainder of the season. Whoever is the last to be eliminated, or whoever is left by the end of the season, will be a "Survivor" and be considered a winner of this game.
